The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) was created in 1967 by the Tennessee General Assembly (TCA 49-7-202) for the purpose of coordinating and supporting the efforts of post-secondary institutions in the State of Tennessee.
National Healthcareer Association (NHA) established in 1989 has become the largest organization with over 200,000 allied healthcare professionals certified. The NHA is currently working with over 1300 educational institutions throughout the country in curriculum development, competency testing, and preparation for national certification exams.
