Questions to ask any college or trade schoolbefore you enroll

How many people enrolled in the course or program you are interested in and how many of them actually completed the program last year?

You may be surprised to learn that many schools that offer programs similar to AAHC enroll hundreds of new students every year but only a small percentage of them complete the program.  At AAHC we have by far the highest completion rate of any school in our area at 90%.  *Compare our results to other schools by following the links below to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission’s (THEC) web site.

How many people actually got jobs in the career field you are considering after completing the program?

AAHC has helped more people go the work locally than any other Technical School.  *See the results comparison below.

What is the total cost for the program you are considering including interest you will pay on your student loans after completion?

Many of our competitors charge between $20,000 and $30,000 for their students to get the same job and earn the same income as our students who only pay $2,500 to $3,625.  What is the starting income of actual students that have completed their program?  Do some research on this by asking people that are already working in your career of choice?  Sometimes schools will exaggerate you expected income to get you excited so you will sign up.

Will my credits transfer to local colleges like Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, UTC, Dalton State, etc.

Many trade schools brag about being accredited colleges but they don’t tell you about the many different types of accreditation in the United States. Over 99% of the time the credits you earn from Miller Motte, Virginia College, and Chattanooga College WILL NOT transfer to your school of choice.  If you decide to go back to college in the future you will more than likely have to start over with the very first pre-requisite.

How much estimated student loan debt will you have upon completion and how much interest will you end up paying over the term of the loan?

At the Academy of Allied Health you will have zero debt when you complete our programs, your first paycheck will be YOURS.  At other schools you can accumulate between $10,000 and $20,000 in debt and Interest on your loans can add an additional $3,000 to $6,000 to the total cost.  Depending on your starting income it can be very difficult to support your family and pay the loans back.  If you can’t afford to pay the student loans you cannot file bankruptcy on them and your wages can be garnished and your tax returns can be seized.  Go to to look at the loan calculator and to determine how much income you will need to earn to afford the student loan payments.

What is the total length of the program?

Many of our competitors’ medical programs range from 15 to 24 months.  At AAHC we don’t make you take Math 101, English 101, and other courses that aren’t necessary.  Every day of class at AAHC we are focused on helping you learn the skills needed to be successful in your career of choice.

How many clinical sites is the school affiliated with?

AAHC has built relationships with approximately 150 Doctor Offices and Hospitals in our area.  We work with many different specialties and we have sites from Dalton to Athens and even have availability for students to complete clinical hours at night and on weekends if needed.  Approximately 50% of our Clinical Medical Assistant students are offered a permanent position in their clinical site.
